G.W.Hancock, Esq., Hotel De France, Chateauroux, Indre, FRANCE. To GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} From Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/MJ.21.7.30. Thanks for your reports on cooling. These are very useful as they confirm the tests which we have carried out at Brooklands. We are pleased to note that you consider 24-EX. is no worse than other Phantom cars as regards cooling. It has always been realised that there must be a limit in air temperature which will prevent the car from boiling and once that is exceeded, if the other conditions remain the same the car is certain to boil. We can hardly agree with you as regards steam pockets causing more heat units to the water. As regards the loss of water by expansion being splashed out of the filler, we are modifying a radiator and hope to despatch it to you before the end of this week. As regards the heating to the carburetter, we should like you to try one test with the small silencer dis-connected, letting the exhaust from the throttle go direct into the atmosphere. At the same time, we are sending out to you a small silencer which has detachable baffles, you will then be able to leave out the baffles until you get sufficient heat. We should also like you | ||
