E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Hives Esq.,
Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd.,
DERBY.

Dear Sir,

My friend, Mr. D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} Henderson, of your London Office, has given me your name to write to you with reference to a proposed test of a new motor fuel I am interested in.

This fuel is based on alcohol, and contains nothing that is harmful to metals, and we claim that it gives a consumption at least equal to petrol and has other advantages such as the ability to be used in high compression engines, and thus give considerably increased power. I am very anxious to have these claims tested by your firm on practical lines either on the bench with a new engine or in ordinary running on the road, but the former for preference. It is also claimed that carbon deposit on piston heads or cylinders is practically eliminated, and the consumption of lubricating oil is reduced by over half, the oil remaining clean largely on account of the considerably decreased heat of the engine. I and my friends are all of the opinion that this new invention is capable of being developed for use with Aero engines, and if your test on an ordinary engine is satisfactory this may be of considerable use to your firm. Compression can be raised to 10 atmospheres without "knocking".

I shall be pleased to supply you with any quantity of the fuel you may wish to use for your test, and of course will pay any charges you may think fit to make.
