To Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} X/282 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}5/KW.5.3.34. Re. Regent Petrol. Referring to your memo. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}7/E.28.2.34. We have taken a Standard Phantom, tuned up to run with our standard Pratt's Ethyl Petrol. We ran the car and timed it on our test hill, checked the slow running, detonation and firing after being switched off. The supply of petrol was so arranged to run the car to a Public Pump supplying Regent Petrol, the tank and autovac then being empty. 6 gallons of Regent Petrol were put in. The engine started up readily and to an Owner no difference in the running would be observed. We carried out the same tests; hill climb was slightly better, slow running good and even. The firing after switching off was no more pronounced, the amount of detonation was the same. Fumes from the exhaust were slightly more noticeable inasmuch as the smell was of a different character. Consumption tests taken over a distance of 25 miles showed practically no difference. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/G.W.Hancock. In view of the above report we do not see any reason for their representative coming to Derby. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
