To: Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 9.B.V. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}9/RH.{R. Hollingworth}16.7.41. 400d I took this car about 350 miles on Tuesday. Below 40 m.p.h. on pick-up, there were occasions where carburation appeared to be weak, and I think that this would become noticeable in cold weather. This difficulty is not so pronounced as with the B.2 carburetter and induction system fitted to this car. India tyres make a continuous groan when driving on smooth London streets. The clutch pedal does not seem to operate very smoothly. Whether this is due to the pedal stem fouling the floor boards or the bearing being dry, I do not know, but it results in the engine being stopped frequently when getting away in second speed. The brakes are very much improved, but I heard a servo groan on one occasion. The axle continues to make noises at irregular intervals. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
