Hdy.{William Hardy} LOGG 1330 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Smth2/R.8.12.36. WRAITH TRANSMISSION. From our experience of 25/30 and Bentley, it appears that with transmissions proportioned as ours are now, a propeller shaft damper is necessary to reduce rear axle groans on the over-run and clutch jaggers and throw-out rattles. We are hopeful that if we stiffen up the axle shafts, a propeller shaft will not be needed, and are experimenting on this point, but in the meantime we think we ought to make provision for one on Wraith.
