re. 20-HP Exhaust Pipe Vibration Trouble.

With reference to the above, which is a general trouble on the 20-HP Chassis, and which I demonstrated to you some long time ago. I again wish to press the point of some improvement in the fixture of this exhaust pipe being standardised and fixed on the cars as quickly as ever possible.

We have a number of cases where this vibration is a very objectionable feature on the car, and this point is specially manifest when certain 'Boomy' type bodies are fitted ( as referred to in my EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}9/H2.10.24.)

We agree it is possible to overcome this trouble temporarily by refitting the pipes, but this condition does not seem to "remain put", and I am afraid that the exhaust pipe vibration trouble is to a more or less extent a trouble on all our 20-HP cars in service. The same points apply in this case as referred to in BJ's memo EJ1/H1.10.24. re New Exhaust Noises. 40/50 Chassis.

At this stage I feel it is absolutely essential for some arrangement to be made so as to deal with complaints of this trouble.

Meantime, if there is any quick move which can be made to the existing exhaust pipes while the cars are in service or the chassis are on test, and which will be a fairly permanent cure, I shall be glad to receive instructions.
