To Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders}.. from Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} c. to By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies} Re: 2.B.III. We thank you for Hn{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders}3/AH.19.2.38, and note your remarks. With reference to the Rover type locks, we understand Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} is taking the matter up with the people concerned, and we will let you know in due course, the results of our findings. We shall however, be pleased to see a sample of the "Everall" door lock at Messrs.Park Wards when we call there, and if necessary we would try this lock in preference to the Silent Travel lock at present used on Bentley, as we know the faults of the latter. With respect to Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders}5/AH.19.2.38, and as previously stated in a former memo, it is agreed to fit the ventilator louvres to the doors, providing that they are at such an angle that they will work. The question of body mounting is a matter for experiment. On Wraith we have endeavoured to abolish the Floatex mounting, but have found that this cannot be done without introduction of tyre noise. Whilst conditions on B.3. are not identical with those of Wraith in that although we have a rigid frame on the former, we have also a rubber jointed front suspension, we feel there is a danger of running into tyre noise. We would like this body built up to take Floatex mounting. We can change over to any other mounting experimentally by merely removing the Floatex bushes, and this we shall do as soon as an opportunity presents itself. We do not see what it matters to the Coachbuilders whether we use Floatex or not, as the Floatex bushes are provided with the chassis, already mounted in the body brackets.
