With reference to N1/M27.1.33.

We shall have a rig running with an eccentric, to test the levers, almost immediately. In the meantime we have been using the Bumper chassis for the same purpose, with dampers set to 200 lbs. static load.

With these loads we have cracked the case in two places, but the inside lever has not moved. Naturally we took particular care to tighten this lever properly before the test started.

We found that when we exeAero Enginerted increased tension on the bolt holding this inside lever, we had cases of seizure on the two bearings. This occurred repeatedly. Investigation shewed that this was due to the hollow shaft becoming oval under the tightening grip to the extent of .001"
