X832 Experimental Dept. Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /LES.1/BE. April 5th.1933. The Packless Gland Co, Ltd., Windmill Road, Sunbury, MIDDLESEX. Dear Sir, Thank you for your letter of the 4th.inst. We have seen your quotation for the bellows to F.100692 and are pleased with the result. As the bellows to F.100773 are very similar to F.100692 we think it is unnecessary for a separate quotation. We would, however, like a quotation for bellows to EX.10836 for similar quantities. This should include you making the end pieces and supplying the complete bellows, and not as in the case of the nine you are now building up. We are interested in your remarks with regard to the safety maximum internal oil pressure. With our bellows to F.100692 and F.100773 we use internal oil pressure, but with the bellows to EX. 10836 which operate in compression, we use external oil pressure. What is the maximum external oil pressure that you would advise to use with the bellows to EX. 10836? We are contemplating using a pressure up to 100 lbs per sq.in. If you made a bellows to EX.10836 which would withstand this pressure, how much would it be safe to move the bellows? Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
