Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd.,
DERBY.

Dear Robotham,

Many thanks for your letter and dope on big end bearings.

Your suggested crankshaft drilling appears to me to be a little optimistic from a production point of view, in the matter of getting the various holes to meet. However, that is my opinion, and we are consulting the production people who might be quite happy about it.

Thank you for the information about tappets. We will get in touch with you again if it seems really necessary to do anything in this direction.

Your suggestion that you should have a 20 h.p. car with your bearing metal seems to be an excellent one, and we will go ahead and fix up our experimental 20 h.p. car in this way as soon as possible.

We would propose to retain our present brinell figure on the crankshaft, but to alter the drilling and groove width as you require them.

Cont'd...
