307 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swd1.5/MH.{M. Huckerby} Experimental Dept. 17th. January 1938. The Midland Motor Cylinder Co., Birmid Works, Smethwick, Birmingham. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of the 14th. inst. and would like to confirm that the machining allowance you have left on your casting drawing TD.3070 (3/64") will be sufficient in that the surface will be good when we machine to our detail drawing EW.1416. Other than the above we should be pleased to know what tappet material you recommend us to run against your "Monikrom" shaft, whether a cast iron with a chilled surface of 530 Brinell hardness would be satisfactory? Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
