-2- Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.7/MM. (6) You will carry out comparative dissipation tests on a new Mk.{R. E. B. Meade-King} VI core, and on the customer's defective core A.94 (returned to you) using the same hydraulic head across each during the test. In this connection, we would like you to make a similar heat dissipation test with one of the silted up Mk.V blocks which you have. (7) You will correct the Bentley Camey shutter set returned to you, and will let us have a written assurance that the defects mentioned in the copy of our inspection report (left with you) will not occur on the production article. With the experimental shutter set which you are correcting we will forward to you, a modified drawing which clarifies the points which you stated were confusing. We would point out, however, that the original drawing gives all the necessary accurate dimensions. (8) The question of dip soldering the Phantom III bottom tank to its matrix will be held in abeyance until you have completed a matrix with squared up waterway ends, to ensure sound solder bond. We would like to use this method of fixing the bottom tanks as soon as possible. (9) You will make us up f.o.c. an experimental car heater to scheme drawing left with you. We think that it would be advisable not to commence this for a few days as the scheme is only half finished and we are modifying one or two details, i.e. we may use anti-friction bearings for the fan, and will probably require some form of louvres in the outer case. As soon as we have finished the scheme sufficiently for you to commence we will send it to you. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
