ORIGINAL BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} C. to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} WORKS. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} EL/M3.7.31. X7010. P. 2. CRANKSHAFT WITH LARGER DIA. JOURNALS. We send herewith LeC. 2925. dealing with the above. This drawing shews the existing crankchamber adapted to take a crankshaft having the larger journals. The object of this experiment is to try a crankshaft fitted up with R's 8 balance weight sch, for which purpose it is considered necessary to produce a crankshaft more rigid torsionally than standard. LeC. 2925. accordingly is shewn with journals .25 larger in dia. than standard, and retains the 2.375 dia. crankpin shewn on the balance weight scheme LeC. 2922. The standard pin is 2.125".
