Prevention of Interference on RR. cars fitted with Wireless. I had a conversation with Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} on Tuesday, regarding car radio, and he lent me his car during the day to try out the set which he has had fitted. The arrangement of the set on his car has been carried out by electricians at Messrs. Hoopers, in an exactly similar way to Eclater-booth's car. The special features of the installation as far as we are concerned are as follows :- (a) The connection of the feed of the set direct on to the battery by means of a screened lead incorporating a filter. (b) The use of a Bi-Polar aerial under the car in a position were it is not in close proximity to the frame or earthed metal parts. The improved methods of connecting the set in the manner described above are such as in our opinion to warrant the modification of the general principle that all accessories should be connected to our accessory fuses on the distribution board. We discussed with Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} the provision of an insulated terminal on the frame connected direct on the battery with a small fuse incorporated. The wireless set makers would then be able to make direct connection to the same with ease and not disturb our wiring. This idea was considered to be desirable and we should be glad if you will arrange for a scheme to be issued showing this modification. | ||
