Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/NRC.{N. R. Chandler}14/JH. 14th. February, 1939. Messrs. Borg & Beck Co.Ltd., Tachbrook Road, Leamington Spa. For the attention of Mr. Barker. Dear Sirs, You have doubtless seen the reference to the 'Continental' Bentley in 'The Autocar' of Feb. 10th. This car is running on an A3-10 clutch but fitted with white thrust springs, as the engine torque is 20 - 25% more than standard, and for this type of car the complete absence of slip is essential. Will you please prepare for us two clutches as follows. One A3-10 B. & B. with white springs. One 10" Long to spec. BB.460, but fitted with springs 15 - 20% stronger than the orange spring. Two 10" driven plates fitted with RAD.11 facings we are sending you, also we suggest anti-rattle springs stronger than the standard red springs, and we would be glad to have your recommendations on this point. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
