400b. To Fd.{Frank Dodd - Bodies} c. to Cwdl. 19.1.39. DETONATION TESTS ON BENTLEY 8.B.V. We have carried out comparison detonation tests with various kinds of petrol using an R.R. distributor against a Delco. With the following results - R.R. Distributor. Esso petrol. Timed T.D.C. Very light detonation up to 1400 r.p.m. .R.R Distributor. Tourisme petrol. Timed T.D.C. Very heavy detonation right through similar to that of B.56.BN{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} when last tried in Derby. .R.R. Distributor. Tourisme petrol. Timed ¼" late. Heavy detonation right through. We only tried this to ascertain if there was a border line. Evident loss of power. Delco Distributor Tourisme petrol Timed ¼" late. No detonation up to 1,000 r.p.m. then light detonation upwards. There was not the evident loss of power as with the R.R. distributor, but we have not means of measuring this accurate. Delco distributor. Tourisme petrol. Timed T.D.C. Heavy detonation all the way up similar to that of 7.B.V. when last tried in Derby. Delco Distributor. Esso Petrol. Timed T.D.C. Very light detonation up to 1400 r.p.m. | ||
