Fault causing doors to fly open on experimental cars.

Regarding the trouble experienced on experimental cars through doors flying open, one of the causes appears to be the way in which the doors are closed. Under certain conditions, it is possible to operate the lock so that the bolt is held back, leaving the door free to swing open. The conditions necessary to obtain this result are as follows:- When closing the door from the inside of the car, the handle is pressed down, the door closed with sufficient force to cause the outside handle to drop. The inside door handle is then lifted into the locked position with the tongue held back by the striking plate. Examples of this trouble are on the Ripple and B-24-AW.
