-3- Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies}9/JH.15.12.39. the smaller chassis i.e. 12.B.V. and 1.R.1. Noisy Tappets. Several cases have been found on the B.80 engines of the valve springs (exhaust) fouling the machined recess in the crankcase, there should be a clearance here of .090" improvement has been effected by grinding the sides of the springs to give required clearance. Tappet clearance of .015" is required to get good slow running, but silence calls for a clearance of .010" camshaft modifications are required to improve this. Carburation B.80. No serious development has been carried out on this carburetter but the work is now well in hand and tests and development work will go forward on carburetters and induction pipes. The idling problem will also be taken seriously together with engine and exhaust mounting. Ripple Carburation. Tests have already been carried out to make this an economy car where petrol is concerned, the final set up being now on trial. Shock Damper Knocks. Development work is being carried out to improve damper noise. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies} | ||
