Handbrake Seizures.

Further to Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /MHR. {M. H. Rigby} 3/JH.31.5.41. we consider that there should be a felt seal on each end of the bearing bracket GB.4982, which will have to be modified. The Bijur connection will now be unnecessary.

Log book evidence is incomplete in that it does not say whether the bearing with oil seal was better than that without one. However, we know that there has been no trouble with the new cross-shaft which has a seal for each bearing.

Meanwhile, we are chromium plating the shafts in the experimental chassis, this being a certain cure.
