X8520 To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to CJ. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}2/M20.3.26. RR. HYDRAULIC SHOCK DAMPERS. X. 235 X. 8520 We send herewith N.sch.2162 shewing R's suggested modification incorporating both high and low pressure valves in the piston, larger inlet valves, a cylindrical filter under the standpipe instead of a flat one, and a screwed gland. R.{Sir Henry Royce} has instructed us that the double valve scheme is to be regarded as a future modification, consequently is not part of the present urgent experiments. We suggest that you should wait for this until we get some comments from R.{Sir Henry Royce} We expect however that the screwed gland will most certainly be required on the first shock dampers, and we suggest you should incorporate this in your present exepriments.
