2. F.{Mr Friese} H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Royce, Esq., West WitteringHenry Royce's home town. 11th July. 1927. Messrs. Taylor & Hubbard of Leicester were our Customers and were themselves sub-Contractors to the Underfeed Stoker Company of London, who were the main Contractors, the plant being for the Isle of Thanet Supply Co. Limited, Broadstairs. We cannot defend the lubrication and propose to supply and fit, free of charge, a new set of Runner Wheels and Axles, arranged for Stauffer grease lubrication. In doing this it is also our intention to point out to Taylor & Hubbard that the reports we have of their track indicate that it is far from satisfactory, and we cannot, therefore, carry any further liability in this matter unless their track is put in order. We were only permitted the see the job at site for the first time last week, and our London Manager, Mr. Hacking, who inspected it advises us that the track is a poor job and leaves much to be desired. Taylor & Hubbard, however, do not admit this. For your information we enclose herewith a copy of Mr. Hacking's report, also copy of letter addressed to Taylor & Hubbard by the Underfeed Stoker Company. Will you please let us know if you agree to our proposals, or if not what you advise, bearing in mind that the Machine must be working again at the earliest possible moment. With reference to your request that we should meet you in London or at West WitteringHenry Royce's home town, considering the very many matters which we have to discuss with you and their urgency, Mr. Bentley and myself will make time to come to West WitteringHenry Royce's home town if you will fix a day (any day of the week) that you can spare for us. Can you give us the end of this week - say Saturday afternoon and Sunday? I propose to leave the various matters raised in your letters of the 5th and 9th instant until your reply is to hand. Yours faithfully, (Sgd.) E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Coley C/DJ. | ||
