It was agreed that we ought to tell customers that we are not tyre experts, but we follow the advice of the tyre manufacturers, who, after very exhaustive tests, have recommended that we should not use security bolts. The tyre experts say that these bolts will not stop the tyre from coming off, but will only delay its coming off for a very short moment. (7) FRONT WHEEL BRAKES. R.{Sir Henry Royce} has written urging every effort to be made to get materials, drawings and the necessary work through for experimental parts. (8) APPROVAL OF "A.T." SPEEDOMETERS. It was pointed out that the general design of this Speedometer was very satisfactory, as they have now altered various small details which we considered poor. For Goshawk everything is in order; BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} decided for the 40/50 that we should have to get out a suitable design for fitting the Speedometer Drive. It was thought this would take about ten days. (9) MAGNETO IGNITION ON 20HP. In the opinion of Sales the arrangements for the supply and fitting of magneto for export cars are not satisfactory, and they repeated the statement which they had made frequently during a very long period that in their opinion it was essential that export cars should have dual ignition whereby magneto can be substituted for battery by a simple operation which could be performed rapidly on the road. (10) LEATHER COVERS FOR PEDAL SLOTS ON 40/50HP. This was agreed to and is to be done by W. Standardisation sheets to be sent round. (11) LUGGAGE CARRIER ON 20HP. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} pointed out that the first type had now been replaced by a later design from R.{Sir Henry Royce} This later design is easier to produce. A sample one is now being produced in Experimental Dept. A complete arrangement drawing of this will be sent this week to Sales. | ||
