It was decided to accept Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}'s promise of increased output contained in his Worl/M23/10/22 and not to press Works beyond this at the moment, in view of facts brought forward. It was further decided that the cards used prior to the War and during the War in manufacture of Aero Engines, should be reintroduced and prepared at once in connection with every series of 40/50HP chassis and Goshawk. These cards to be examined once a week and a report sent to those concerned, and to CJ., showing what departments were behindhand and to what extent etc. and stating delay likely to occur in delivery of the goods, owing to such delays. It was decided that Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} should be sole arbiter as to when and where new parts should be introduced into any series. It was further agreed that any official who disagrees with Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}'s decision should have the right to appeal direct to CJ. (2) ALTERATIONS, IF ANY, IN GOSHAWK WITHOUT STANDARDISATION SHEET. It was decided at a conference held in London on July 13th. that G.4, with certain alterations quoted in CJL/E18/7/22 should be our standard chassis and if further changes were necessary - other than modifications which BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} has authority to introduce, and for which he takes full responsibility - standardisation sheets must be sent round. The conference reaffirmed that the decisions of July 13th. make the basis of standardisation sheets for G.11. It was further agreed that a Works Committee should meet with a view to short-circuiting standardisation sheets, this Works Committee to go and see Sales on the afternoon of Monday, the 6th. Sales offer, if necessary, to come to Derby every fortnight until Goshawk policy is settled. It was also agreed that parts could be submitted for standardisation although they had not done the 10,000 miles, providing the urgency of such matters was considered very great. A full explanation covering the need for the change and giving full particulars of same, and also all of the tests Experimental Dept. had done, should be sent to CJ. and officials who sign these standardisation sheets. (3) EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} TESTING COMPLETE CARS. This was erased, as other arrangements have been made by Sales. | ||
