To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} X1179 HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/ED.{J. L. Edwards}16/JH.4.8.36. High Power Head. We find that on comparing the above head with the best we have so far obtained on the Bentley, that there is a power improvement of approximately 10%, and we feel therefore, that this head is worth developing. As a result the following programme for the single cylinder unit has been evolved - Heads. (1) Modification of existing single inlet valve head as under :- (a) Change material to aluminium. (b) Incorporate a variable lift mechanism a scheme being suggested in SCT.41 (2) Make a second head with a 1.650" dia. inlet valve, allowing sufficient metal to enlarge the parts and the valve to 1.950" dia. as per SCT.37. (3) Make a third head with standard valves and an inclined combustion chamber plug to bring the plug points in line with the combustion chamber walls (SCT.40). Blocks. (4) Two new cylinder blocks are required to replace the existing one, which has been scrapped, one being a spare. | ||
