My dear R.{Sir Henry Royce},

Very many thanks for R1/M26.9.30.

I appreciate the offer that you have made and the desire to save expense, and have given very considerable thought to the matter.

My visit to Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence from Cannes last year makes me realise how dependent you really are at Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence on a car for transport and general use, and also I remember that the distance between the two places is such as means approximately half a day's run.

It seems to me imperative that you should have a car at Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence the whole of the time and a driver, as quite apart from the question of use of the car for pleasure purposes, it would soon seem that you are very dependent on it for marketing, etc. etc.

If, in order to enable the 40/50 to do duty on the Riviera for propaganda purposes, you had to have a second car for general transport, then any possible question of economy would disappear.

Greatly, therefore, as I appreciate your consideration of the question, I really think that we had better adhere to the same arrangements as have existed in the past.

Yours sincerely,

(Sgd) A.F.Sidgreaves
