Messrs. John Marston Ltd.,
Wolverhampton.

For the attention of Mr. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Southall.

Dear Sirs,

Referring to your letter of the 3rd instant, we very definitely do not agree to your using the high temperature solder which you mention, in the manufacture of our Ph.III oil coolers.

We standardised the cooler made by yourselves, with the original solder, as the result of our 15,000 miles test.

In view of the fatigue factor in failures of these coolers, we are only prepared to use the new solder after a further 15,000 miles test, of a cooler of this type. We shall of course proceed with this.

Further we think that before the specification of an article which we have standardised is changed, we should be consulted about the proposed alteration.

In view of these facts, we wish you to return to the original solder used and give us the individual numbers of all the high temperature solder type coolers supplied to us. Presumably these will be obtainable from your records and will enable us to check up in the event of any failures occurring.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
