Referring to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Std.8/JH.24.9.36, it seems fairly clear that the outer rivet on the 25/30 HP. fan is taking very much more load than the two rivets near the hub, and this arises mainly from the fact that this fan is of entirely different construction from the Bentley. I think we could either substitute the Bentley size of rivet with a fitting hole for the outer rivet on the 25/30 or put in two more rivets and make these together with the outer one fitting. The former appears to me as the simpler scheme and the one that we could adopt. If you are in agreement would you kindly issue instructions accordingly. In the meantime I am suggesting to Sft.{Mr Swift} that we should consider spot welding a fan experimentally as this appears to be a very suitable job for joining together in this way. I think that this is a job that we ought to follow up. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
