to WH from Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} copy to W. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/14.6.28. PHANTOM. ORIGINAL X7830 X7430 X7470 "E" TYPE STEERING FOR G.2.B. SERIES. We send herewith N.Sch 2632. shewing the proposed "E" Type Steering for G.2.B. Series. As recommended in Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}2/M/16.5.28.,the seat is 2.000ins lower than "D" type. In order to keep the same leg room of 47.5ins. the squab is moved back .625ins. Since this is to be the steering of fast cars we have made the wheel to squab dimension 15.0ins. as suggested by Derby and Sales for 15.EX. If it is desired to maintain the 16.0ins. dimension the wheel will be moved one inch nearer to the dash. The pedals are standard "D" type. We suggest that these be tried to begin with in order to keep down the number of standards. If it is found necessary in order to facilitate the operation of the brake pedal we can re-space the pedals as we did for the Continental Phantom. The side levers are "D" type except that the brake lever is slightly more upright. It will be clear from the drawing that the driving vision is still quite good. If Derby could modify the column, levers and dash of 12.EX. we suggest that this would be a good car to try this new column on. The body would need a new cushion and squab. The screen would be unduly far from the wheel but that would not matter. However we leave Derby and Sales to fix up a car for everyone to try. EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
