X 384 . 1004 To Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}9/KT.10.6.32. P.II. DYNAMOMETER. We can see no useful purpose in running full torque on 1st gear. We suggest that the 10 mins. run on 1st gear should be run under 25 HP. conditions, that is at the same load as was registered on 2nd gear. We think you will agree that full torque running on a car, particularly those fitted with low rating springs, will merely be detrimental to the car.
