To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} X328 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}10/KW.29.5.36. Phantom III Gearbox. G.W.H. is having considerable trouble in France with the synchromesh operation on 32-EX, and particularly with regard to the top gear crashing. We want to send him out another gearbox. Will you therefore please prepare gearbox No. 4HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} to the production LOP., to include the strengthened third speed gears and the Cadillac gears. The only modification from standard we want is that the top gear bronze cone should be screw threaded and have the .003" correction. The angle of all the cones in the box should of course be 10°.
