ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED, NIGHTINGALE ROAD, DERBY. TELEGRAMS: "ROYCAR," DERBY. TELEPHONES: 476 (Four Lines). Re. Steering Wobbles. EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}18/W16314. With reference to your memo Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}/Mcr6/L13214, attaching Peat's report on this matter, I do not think there is anything about the job but what can be made satisfactory, if given proper attention and it would rather appear as though Peat has not got full information on this matter or that there is some new feature of which we are not yet aware. I understand Mr. Haldenby went into this matter very thoroughly and made out various reports, covering the whole ground as regards various types of steering wobbles and how same could be cured. I also believe he made some experiments showing how the steering wobble, which was set up by bad road surface could be satisfactorily overcome by fixing shock absorbers on to the steering. I do not know that I can supply any further information on this matter, other than what Mr. Peat already knows and I think this is a matter which Mr. Haldenby could take up more efficiently. I should, however, be very pleased to know This sheet must be filed with the correspondence to which it refers. Handwritten notes: X457 on Du/Hy{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer}/12-2-13 | ||
