- 2 - Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}4/JH.22.12.39. (b) Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} said that the raw material cost of the shell weighing 224 lbs at 2d. per lb. was 37/- say £2., and that the rest of the cost was therefore due to wages and would be susceptible to improved production methods. It was agreed to be fair to assume that if the body were tooled up to the extent of £50,000 the tool charges would be £10 per body and that the shell complete would be obtained for £28. i.e. a saving of £22 over the present semi-tooled P.W. construction plus the wages of putting the latter together. The labour cost on B.V. is £9 plus £9 overheads. It was suggested by Mr. Green that a finish shell made by P.S.C. to their construction would cost £40 on a quantity of 5,000 bodies and we can assume a saving of £20 on the metal shop section. (c) Costs - Wings. Mr. Ward said: (1) Front wings cost £15. 12. 0. in alum. and £13. 0. 0d. in steel. (2) Front and rear wings in alum. cost £20 with £3 labour and £3 overheads is £26 per set. All of the above for batch of 250 sets. Mr. Green said: Daimler 17. Front wings. Tools £2542. Rear wings. Tools £ 962. = £3504 Also: Daimler 17. Front wings £2. 3. 0d. ) Material & Rear wings £1. 7. 0. ) Labour. | ||
