TO D.A. From E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} EFC. X.4262 ORIGINAL. RE "GOSHAWK II" - THIRD SPEED GEAR AND FRONT ANCHORAGE M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} Scheme 748 RECEIVED Kindly note the following points which Mr. Royce would like altered:- (1) The cantilever pin carrying the load should be made of larger diameter on the outer end of the tapered step near the collar because in addition to the bending moment produced by the weight of the car at this point, there is also the tension to carry, produced by the inner nut. (2) Mr. Royce wishes to retain the boss on the spring end carrying the lubricator as after consideration he thinks that there is no other way of making the lubricator accessible underneath the valance. (3) The shuttles for the brake ropes should be joined at their rear ends somewhat as shown in fig.1, but a piece of screwed wire should be used instead of a long screw. M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} Scheme 748 altered as above, may be proceeded with without further reference to Mr. Royce. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
