| 302- August 25th 1937 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}4/AP. The Gleason Works, 1000 University Ave., ROCHESTER N.W. U.S.A. Dear Sirs, We send you herewith drawings of the pinion and crown wheel used on our 12 cylinder car, and we have sketched on the drawing of the pinion a modification we should like to make to strengthen the nose piece. We cannot do this at the moment because the cutter removes most of the metal when cutting the pinion teeth. If you could suggest any simple alteration to the shape of the gears without altering the ratio to overcome the trouble, we should be glad to hear from you. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
