I am having considerable difficulty in making up my mind about the other matter we discussed, as there are one or two unknown factors. Firstly, what chance should I have of selling my existing car,and what should I get for it? What is going to happen to the Income Tax in April? Is one going to be able to afford to run a car of that size in a year or two? By what date will it be necessary for me to make up my mind one way or the other? I ask this, as possibly the Budget might be the deciding factor. Also, there is some difference of opinion between me and the Special Commissioners, and here again if the decision goes in my favour the position would be very much easier.

I can quite see your point of view, and that I have got to make up my own mind as to whether I would wish you to press the administration to include my name amongst the favoured few. Please let me know how long there is before I need give you this answer.

Do not forget that you are going to make a point of coming over to see the new mill in operation before very long.

Yours sincerely,

Richard
