COPY. Bentley Motors(1931)Ltd., Derby. Sr/G05/AD/20.12.37. To D/BP. 4 1/4 Litre Bentley Engine Unit No. B.16. We acknowledge receipt of your memo D/BP/WK2/JR.{Mr James Royce}16.12.37, and confirm our telegram of even date, reading: POPE HOLD UP SHIPPING BENTLEY ENGINE UNIT UNTIL RECEIPT OF MEMO. We requested you to hold up despatch of the engine, as it is important that same should be shipped minus carburetters and all electrical parts, in order to avoid duty on the basis of Fcs. 18.-- per Kg, which is the tariff applicable to complete units. If you can arrange to send the electrical parts and carburetters in a separate case, some time after the engine unit itself, we hope to clear this item on the basis of Fcs. 11.80 per Kg. We shall be pleased to hear from you that this procedure can be adopted on your side. As requested, we attach hereto our official Order No. 1924 for the engine unit, although we understood from Experimental Department that it would not be charged to us. Sr/Go. | ||
