12-G-4 - STEERING. X457 X5430

We have run this car with 5.25" and 6" tyres on 21" rims. Whilst the steering is definitely better with these larger wheels and tyres, it is not free from a slight tendency to wobble.

We have tried a standard car with these tyres at 23 lbs/sq. in. pressure. The steering shewed no signs of 'shimmy'.

We are carrying out tests to determine why 12-G-4 steering differs from that of the standard car when equipped with similar wheels. We are arranging to see if the rubber engine mounting has any bearing on the problem.
