TELEPHONE 8081 (7 LINES). TELEGRAMS: "ROVER,"COVENTRY". MANAGING DIRECTOR'S OFFICE [Stamped] SBW:ME. THE ROVER COMPANY LTD. COVENTRY, ENG. June 27th 1935 W.A. Robotham Esq., Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd, Derby. Dear Robotham, You were interested some time ago in methods of body production. We have recently patented a design of rigid body horse which might be of interest. Everyone has known for a long time that a really rigid body horse was necessary to make a good job, but I do not know that anybody yet has tackled it seriously. We have made an attempt by producing a body horse with a tubular backbone, on the same principle as the Mercedes chassis, which seems to be a reasonable way of going about it. We are having some trouble with the small pipe lines on our Bijur equipment, due to flaking on the inside of the pipe. We have used brass pipe so far but propose to go over to copper. I wonder if you would mind telling me whether you have used brass or copper in the past and whether you have had any similar trouble. Yours sincerely, S B Wilks | ||
