SECRET To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Copy to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} [REDACTED] [Handwritten Note] R.{Sir Henry Royce} Les.{Ivan A. Leslie} This should be tried on SpectreCodename for Phantom III II Phantom III. Frame Stiffener at Rear Cross. Herewith is N.Sch.4627 which shews the bracing between the X cross member and the cross member at front of rear springs, to give lateral stability to the frame. With the exception of the removal of two lightening holes from the spring cross member and the addition of one lightening hole to the frame side member, existing parts are not altered by this scheme. We should like the value of the arrangement tested on the bump rig as soon as possible, and it is intended that it should be fitted to SpectreCodename for Phantom III III.
