re SpectreCodename for Phantom III Frame.

From the results of running the front suspension on the bumper rig, it is evident that some lateral stiffening will be required in the frame structure equivalent to the fixed sheet metal floors used by the Americans.

The bay immediately behind the cross is the one requiring attention chiefly, and it appears to me that we might incorporate a triangulation by running suitable members from the junction of the side members of the frame with the cross member opposite the front ends of the rear springs to a common point on the cross member carrying the tail end of the gearbox.

These triangulations will probably interfere with the foot wells for close coupled bodies, but some sacrifice may be necessary in respect to the depth of foot well allowable.

A further triangulation behind the cross member opposite the front ends of the springs may be arranged with a common point on the tubular cross member carrying the rear end of the battery box, but whether this is possible without fouling something remains to be seen.

Would you kindly put in hand a scheme on these lines as soon as possible.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}
