X.4257. To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to EY. Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}2/4/29.8.22. X.4257. We found the compensating gear on the hand brake on 6-Goshawk-ll stuck up this afternoon. It was the left hand side, and the effect was to hold on the brake so that the drum became practically red-hot. The actual seizure of the shaft however was very slight, as it could easily be moved by hand, and shewed what a very small amount is required to hold the brake on. Mr. Royce suggests as a result of this, that these compensators should be made even more free than they are. He does not think that rattles will develop in this part of the car even if the whole of this gear were quite sloppy. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
