1010 & 1022 To Evr c. to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} Les.3/B.10.11.39. Information from John Thompson's with regard to Ripletto Frame in .064" material. We attach copy of our letter addressed to John Thompsons and copy of their reply, concerning the material to be used in Bentley V.{VIENNA} Dies. From their letter it appears that they would be able to use the present Sidemember tools but new male tools would be required for front Crossmembers, Cruciform members and part of the Gusset. In the case of the Sidemember, they would have to carry out a certain amount of hand work after pressing. We fear it is quite impossible to state exactly what new tools would be required until we know approximate quantities of Bentley V.{VIENNA} and Ripletto production. We feel that in any case it will be very difficult to get a clear cut reply to our questions from Messrs. John Thompsons at the present stage. With regard to material to make the .064" thick frame, we are in touch with Messrs. Rubery, Owen for this steel. Les.{Ivan A. Leslie} | ||
