X7410. O.C. [crossed out] Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} [crossed out] E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}/Insp. [crossed out] C. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} S.S. SPRINGS. ----------- As we are now rapidly reaching the end of the 50 sets of material which it was agreed should be machined and ground at these Works in order to get away with the first 50 SS.{S. Smith} chassis, it is necessary to find out whether Firths are in a position to proceed with the remainder of the J.2 series material. We had not intended holding the order down to 50 sets. Our intention was to release the full 150 sets, but since Firths were not in a position to do what we required and supply springs in the time, Nor. made special arrangements for the 50 sets in question to be machined at these Works. It now becomes necessary to take a decision as to whether Firths can start in and keep up continuity or are we to do a further 50 sets at the Works. With reference to poundages, in the absence of any definite experience we will have to proportion the springs in the same ratio. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} [Signature] | ||
