Racing SHELL

To meet the insistent demand of the drivers of racing cars and motor cycles and other (sports) types with abnormally high compression or supercharged engines, Shell now introduces a new standard grade spirit—“ Racing Shell ”—in line with their constant lead in fuel research.

For 97% of all cars and motor cycles, “ Shell ” petrol by itself is the ideal fuel in every respect—possessing as it does all good qualities and in particular an anti-knock value fully satisfactory to all normal cars.

But there is now a certain number of “hotted-up” or supercharged sports and racing cars, and motor cycles, for which a specially designed fuel is needed if maximum performance is to be obtained.

“ Racing Shell” is designed for this special need—it consists essentially of a concentration of those natural anti-knock hydrocarbons exclusive to, and a feature of, all petrols sold by Shell, and to which “ Shell ” petrols owe their famous anti-knocking qualities—properties vital to the smooth running and power performance of to-day’s high compression engines.

Isolated and enhanced by special processes, these anti-knock hydrocarbons are selected and blended to a new Shell formula; the result—a triumph of industrial chemistry—is “Racing Shell.”

“ Racing Shell” contains no dope or deleterious matter, and it cannot be duplicated by doped fuels or benzol mixtures.
