R.R. .1354. CK{Mr Clark}/3/T. 24.10.23. 50. (5359) Contd. -2- CK{Mr Clark}/3/T. Further, we note that you rely for some electrical connections upon insulating material of the type which may shrink under certain circumstances and impair the electrical contacts. We question whether such a method gives absolute reliability as we have known of a similar case in which a dynamo has failed to excite due to a bad contact from such a cause. There results on the whole no very great improvement we fear, and in some respects the old machine is still a good deal better than the present. Our tests of the dynamo have been delayed for the above reasons, but we have now had the necessary slight alterations made to the dynamo and certain tests are now in progress. We are still of the opinion previously expressed that the system of control used by you is superior to all other systems of inherent control in existance, due to the fact of the comparatively early cutting in speed, but more particularly to the very rapid rise of output in the early stages. Yours faithfully, | ||
