1369 File To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies} c. to Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies}1/KW18.12.33. Re 1-B-4 Bentley 10,000 miles Trials Car. -------------------------- We are returning the front wings of the above car to Messrs. Park Ward Co. for their inspection, as suggested in your memo. Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}4/13.12.33. The rear wings of this car are also having to be repaired, through being starred badly by stones. This trouble is eliminated of course by steel wings. On all our Bentley cars we have experienced trouble with the aluminium foot wells breaking away over the propellor shaft tunnel. This is a one piece fixing carrying the whole weight of the front seats and passengers. The board sags in the centre and bumps on the chassis prop. shaft member. The prop. shaft also hitting to tunnel on maximum bump. We do not consider this strong enough to carry the weight required, and suggest it should be made in steel. We are also having trouble with the front seat runners; these are very insecurely screwed to the floor-board, and we suggest should be bolted in position.
