Reference your memo FN12/GT24.6.31.

There appears to have been some misunderstanding about your memo. We wish to make it clear that according to reports received from JLE.{J. Lee Evans - Chassis Test Manager} this car has now been delivered to the customer who is quite satisfied with the springing.

The car is now fitted with springs and shock absorbers as originally fitted when it left the Works as a chassis.

Why the low rated springs were ever instructed we cannot quite understand.

The customer's requirements as per your first paragraph indicates the high rating or standard type springs - since as explained in Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Tm2/KT22.6.31 - "The disadvantages of the low rating springs is that they do undoubtedly impair the controllability of the car and make it a less pleasurable vehicle to drive".

We anticipated that trouble would take place in fixing wrong springs by the grades and catagories not being clearly understood, hence our memo EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}9/H19.6.31 and EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}2/H24.6.31.

Referring to your third paragraph the shock absorbers were not specially adjusted, but were the standard instructed type for this type of spring.

Your concern appears chiefly to be in the difference in springing between your Trials Car GLR-59 and that obtained with GOS-59 (Verrell). Do you take the view that GLR-59 is suitable for "a fast touring car with an average of four passengers" (per Mr Verrell's requirements)- if so, we should like to try this car. The body may have quite a different centre of gravity to that on GOS-59.
