- 2 - CxIO/KW29.12.34 try and copy anything we find very good. As, however, these demonstrations did not give one any impression at all of what they would be like on a car on the road, we could not attach any importance to what we saw. My impression is that the double filment lamp scheme could be made quite good with certain modifications, and, in view of the extra benefit derived from the non-dipping reflectors by way of general illumination, it is felt that that form of fixed reflector with possibly 48-watt lamps instead of 60 would meet the case exceedingly well and reduce current consumption. Then by modifying the [strikethrough]reflectors on[/strikethrough] position of the second filament in order to produce more driving light under these conditions, we might get a very good result. Wst is continuing on these lines. As regards the fog lamps, I saw the Currus but we did not try it on the road because there was no fog. I got the impression that it would be very useful in fog, and I understand that E thinks it is easily the best he has ever seen. I understand from Wst that Lucas are not interested in trying to copy it. It means manufacturing in such small numbers to meet our requirements. We might, therefore, be able to approach Messrs Butler to see if they could produce a lamp of this kind for us, and we ought to have some news on this point a little later on. I think it is definitely clear that no scheme of lamps can be made adequate for both ordinary driving and fog driving. Lamps that are suitable for fog are unsuitable for driving with, and it looks as though we must make up our minds that these two issues must be kept separate and dealt with by separate lamps.
