(3) 31. Contd. There is also the tendency for the steering to "tuck under" if the brakes are suddenly applied and the driver is not steering the car quite straight. This weakness, however, has already been pointed out in connection with the "U" series cars. 32. Water drain tap for engine. It has been pointed out that this tap is not very accessible. Suggest improvement when convenient to modify. 33. Clutch - want of smooth working. This has been complained of as not being smooth in action when getting away on third or top gear from a standing start as was the case with the "Silver Ghost" clutch. This is a point for consideration on future output. 34. Loose Spokes in Dunlop Wheels. This is a source of complaint from London during complete car tests. We have also had similar cases during our final chassis road test, and the matter is now being taken up by Mr. Clough for BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} This appears to be a point which should be taken up and demonstrated to the makers. 35. Fabric Coupling Engine to Gear Box Bolts loose. We have found these loose on test and on inspection of same there appears to have been insufficient length of thread on the bolt. We notice an instruction has come through for a different type of bolt to be used. We suggest that this alteration should be instructed retrospectively, as it appears possible for this trouble to develop and we take it that it is essential for the fabric to be definitely gripped by the bolt. 10,000 Mile Reliability Test "V" Series chassis. I have not yet seen a report of the 10,000 miles test carried out on this type of chassis which is free from failure. As we are about to be in a position to deliver complete cars to customers, I consider such a report should be circulated and the chassis "standardised". EP.{G.
