To HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. c. HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/W.Bell. 8 324^2 1371 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.12/MH.{M. Huckerby}24.1.38. PH.III. FAN BELT & WATER PUMP RIG ENGINE. Will you please remove the four intermediate c/shaft main bearings from the above unit, as we wish to reduce the bearing friction on this engine in order to obtain the requisite speeds for fan belt endurance. As the engine will be run on Sperm oil it will be advisable to assemble it with same. Will you please leave off the dynamo and water pump in order to reduce power necessary to drive unit, and will you please also fit a standard Fabroil idler wheel in place of special one at present fitted. Will you please add weights equivalent to 2.85 lbs. to each crankshaft pin (C. of G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} on centre line of pin) to balance shaft.
